Elements of Natural and Built Enviroment

Element of Natural and Built Environment (ENBE) is a variety of techniques will be explorer throughout the module such as identify,exploring, analyzing, comparing and and evaluating the different element found in the natural and built environment.

                                 

Elements of Natural and Built Environments is a 5 credit hour module conducted over a period or 18 weeks. the modes of delivery are in the form of lectures, tutorials and self directed study:

Lecture: 2 hours per week

Tutorial: 2 hours per week

Self-directed study: 7 hours per week

ENBE PROJECT ONE  
In this first project is an introduction for student to experience, observe and explore The Nature Environment. Student are required to create :
a) power point  (individual)
b) Info graphic presentation board (group)
c) A 5-10 Documentary Video (group)

First of all, 2 Day 1 Night SITE VISIT were organized from ENBE class by Ms Delliya Zain and Ms Norma Jean on 15th April 2013,it is a site visit to Gombak Riverstone Eco Resort.

Every moment in Riverstone is an opportunity to explore Nature... Nature is one of the best things around and free for the looking. So I thought this beautiful weather in Riverstone I would be an excellent opportunity to do a more positive take on the hearing, seeing and feeling a moment or two in my life.

This power point is about what we had investigate in the selected 10mx10m site and research about our selected plant and insect by connect idea and information to create an interesting infrographic poster by using four A1 cardboard.

Self reflection :

The journey that I had learn in this project one which is getting to know more about nature environment. In the site visit, I learn to observe and overlook the specialist of natural element and take photo from different perspective of nature and collect some sample plant or insect. 

However, as a student ,everything seem so new and different from my secondary school. It is so challenge to me to learn something new . For example: create an info graphic, make power point ,video and other. Even though it is not easy to me, but it actually is a best learning moment in my uni life time.

I learn to be more innovative and keep the determination in every movement in this project. In the same way, I realize that cooperative between group members also the significant in the role of group work. I learn to communicate with my group members and accept each of their idea either it is good or bad.

THE JOURNAL 1 :  Conservation of forest


Self Reflection :
In this journal giving me the opportunity to deeply focused in discovering conservation of flora and fauna by strengthen efforts in forest conservation and the sustainable management of forest resources. Beside that, i also realize the devastating effect of deforestation to our nature and the ways to conserve it. On the other hand, this journal had stir up my interest to conserve the  Mother Nature.

 THE JOURNAL 2: Symbiotic relationship in Nature
We were required to investigate and elaborate the topic and basically we were also required to understand and research about the symbiotic, which is consist 3 type of relationship,  Mutualism,Commercialism and Parasitism.

Self Reflection :
 From this journal , I had learn the organism of different species that live together, often to their mutual benefit and I had research more about the fascinating symbiotic relationship that exist between animal and plan. In the same way, I find out the similar relationship with human being , which is interdependent person and group.

THE JOURNAL 3 :  Public Space in Kuala Lumpur
In this journal, we were required to had a site visit to Kuala Lumpur to observe, experience and capture public space in Kuala Lumpur. However, we were required to chose a site and conduct our research and investigation.

Self Reflection :
I am so treasure and  had an amazing journey to travel around the KLCC with my group members and it is also the first experience that I travel to KL using LRT.
Moreover, I also had a the great experience between my friend and I. Which is sitting beside the water-fountain and sketching the view around KLCC park, I felt so comfortable and enjoyable in that moment.
In this journal, I had recognized and understand about public space by capture the view of people activity in the public space. And it also help me to step-up my self- knowledge by learn the use stage of each material and capture the different type of physical element such as, wall, ceiling, staircase and more.

THE JOURNAL 4 :The book cover Montage
In the last of The Journal , we were required to design a montage using hand visual or digital method. This montage will function as a Book cover and put into our final compilation file.

Self Reflection:
From the front cover, I would like to show the relationship between  Built and Natural Environment by adding the a tree (natural) and Building( built) to decorate my book cover. In addition to that, I also show the people are upholding the building with the idea of Built it Together .So I decided to give a title to my cover page which called, Building Into and Out of Nature.
From the back of the cover, I would like to show the photo about what I have been learnt in Semester 1, through the journal of experiences nature and the all project of built environment.

PROJECT 2: Built Environment
Future City Presentation ( Part A: individual work + Part B: group work)

In this future city presentation (individual) ,this project student are required to imagine that the year is 2033,we have to propose a new plan and pretend to be a 'Mayor' of my the 'X' city. We are required to create a proposal of our new city through Report and Video to understand the needs of the people and how to sustain itself in the future city.

Part A- Individual Component
SUBMISSION A : The Video Presentation
This presentation is to explain the proposal of my new Blossom City through image, diagram, short description, keyword, plan, section, perspective, sketches and drawing to understand the coming soon city.

SUBMISSION B : The future city presentation A4 Report
This report will concentrate on the collected information, progress and development and proper written and organized data about the proposed of new Blossom City.

Self Reflection for part A:

As a mayor of my city, I learnt to lead the effort for rebuilding, redesigning and reshaping to make it suitable for my city's citizen for the future. By planning the city, I had to consider about a cities complex systems for sanitation, utilities, land usage, housing, and transportation. It is a good time to understand the significant of city plan and create a functional city.

We were required to create a Model of city and A2 presentation board/promo based on our planned city.

Only one city was chosen for each group and the city chosen from our group was my city , "Blossom City".

There were a few specifications set out by our lecturers and these were:

1. The model is A2 sized and a maximum of 60 cm tall

2. The presentation boards are two A2 only.

3. Only 3 colours can be used for the model (excluding black and white)

 Self Reflection for Part B:

Within this group component of assignment, I have learnt to choose the most suitable material for creating my city model and the idea to produce a good presentation board. I had move up my problem solving skills in this project. It happen when our group city model was quite big so we have think another way to make it become more steady and functional.
However, I was recognized the significant good team work and communication between group members was importance. Beside that, along this project I was so cherish to my group members and appreciate for their cooperative by instill patient and supervision to produce this gorgeous city model.
